New award win
We’re pleased to share that CodeLeap has been named one of the winners of the SME News Southern Enterprise Awards 2023, and our listing is now live on the SME News website. Award announcements are easy to write and hard to make meaningful — so rather than simply celebrating, we thought we’d explain what the award actually is, how winners are chosen, and why this one matters to us.
What the Southern Enterprise Awards are
SME News is a UK business publication from AI Global Media. It covers the small and medium-sized enterprise landscape — news, insights and practical advice for start-ups and growing businesses — and alongside the publication it runs a series of yearly awards programmes. The Southern Enterprise Awards is one of those programmes, focused on businesses operating across the South of the UK.
2023 was the sixth year of the Southern Enterprise Awards, and the winners list covers a genuinely wide range of sectors. That breadth is part of what makes the programme interesting: it takes a view of the region’s small businesses as a whole, rather than ranking one industry against itself.
How winners are chosen
SME News describes its awards as “given solely on merit” — recognition for ingenuity and hard work that sets winners apart from their competitors. Announcing the 2023 winners, awards coordinator Jack Ford spoke about the dedication this year’s winners bring to their work, and about the South of the UK as a flourishing home for small business success stories.
We’ll be straightforward: no industry award is the full picture of a business, and we’d never suggest choosing a software partner on trophies alone. But recognition of this kind reflects things we work hard at every single day — and it’s nice when someone outside the building notices.
What the award recognises
We’ve been building software for ambitious businesses since 2019 — the full story is on our about page. In that time we’ve grown from two founders into a team of engineers, designers and project managers, delivering web and mobile products and, increasingly, AI and automation systems for SMEs. A selection of that work lives in our portfolio, including the outcomes it produced for the businesses involved.
The measure we care about most, though, is what clients say when they’re asked independently. We hold a 4.9 rating on Clutch, and the reviews behind that number describe the way we try to operate. As Mike Fenna, CTO at Kite Insights, put it: “Their flexibility and focus on quality were outstanding.” An award is a pleasant headline; feedback like that is the substance underneath it.
Thank you
This award belongs to every member of the CodeLeap team who has contributed their talent and care to our projects, and to the clients and partners who trusted us with theirs. The journey since 2019 has had its share of challenges and lessons, and the relationships we’ve built along the way are the real reason we’re on this list.
What’s next
We’d rather earn the next piece of recognition than dwell on this one. Our plan is unchanged: keep shipping dependable software, keep our clients’ goals ahead of our own headlines, and keep improving how we work. If you’re weighing up a technology partner for your own project, take a look at our services, browse the case studies, or simply get in touch — we’re always happy to talk through what you’re building.
