Gemdarr

Making a will still means solicitors, paperwork and cost. CodeLeap designed and built a secure platform that lets people create, manage and execute a legally recognised will entirely online, guided step by step from first draft to witnessed signature.

What we did CodeLeap designed and built the whole platform from scratch — accounts, subscriptions, a guided will questionnaire, and a DocuSign-based signing and witnessing flow — through to alpha and beta.

Gemdarr — Web platform case study Gemdarr

Writing a will is something most people put off — it means booking a solicitor, filling in unfamiliar paperwork and paying for advice they only half understand. Our client, a UK startup, wanted to make it far simpler: a service where anyone could produce a valid, legally recognised will from home, at their own pace. They partnered with CodeLeap to design and build the platform from the ground up — a secure, subscription-based service that guides people through every step, from the first question to a properly witnessed and executed document.

What we built

  • Guided will questionnaire

A step-by-step questionnaire turns legal requirements into plain questions anyone can answer. People build their will at their own pace, save it as a draft and preview the finished document before committing to it.

  • DocuSign signing and witnessing

Each finished will is executed through a DocuSign signing flow the platform orchestrates end to end — inviting witnesses, tracking every signature status from requested to confirmed to signed, and only completing once everyone has signed. Editing a draft mid-signature safely resets the process.

  • Executor access and letters

Users can write personal letters to leave alongside their will, and nominated executors request access when the time comes. Every request is controlled and reviewed, so sensitive documents only ever reach the right people.

  • Admin panel

A back-office panel lets the team manage wills, users, letters and executor access requests in one place — overseeing accounts, resolving issues and keeping the whole service running smoothly.

Why this matters to you:

Making a will is one of those tasks people avoid for years. By turning it into a guided online process — draft, preview, witness, execute — the platform strips out the cost and friction that hold people back, and gives you confidence your wishes are recorded properly and legally.
