Skamper
A UK running company wanted to turn scattered trails, parks and road runs into one place runners could trust. CodeLeap became their product team, building and maintaining Skamper — a cross-platform app with thousands of verified routes, on-demand races and performance tracking.
What we did CodeLeap is Skamper's ongoing product team — designing, building and maintaining the running app (iOS and Android), its backend and its website across continuous monthly releases, and more recently rebuilding the web experience as a PWA.
Routes and races, one app. Runners in the UK have thousands of great trails, parks and road routes to choose from, but finding a reliable one — and knowing how you'd fare on it — meant piecing together maps, forums and guesswork. Skamper set out to fix that. They partnered with CodeLeap as their ongoing development team to build and maintain the product: a cross-platform running app, the backend behind it and the website, shipped and improved through steady monthly releases.

Curated route discovery
Runners browse thousands of verified trail, park and road routes near them, filtered by distance and terrain, each with an elevation profile, reviews and a downloadable GPX file — so every run starts with a route you can trust.

GPS tracking with voice coaching
During a run the app tracks pace, distance and route in real time, with voice coaching to keep you going — built to work reliably outdoors, on the move and away from a strong signal.

On-demand races and leaderboards
Any route can become a race whenever you choose. Runners compare their times on inclusive leaderboards, so you can compete against yourself or the wider community without turning up to a fixed event on a set day.

Race time predictions
After a single completed run, the app estimates your likely finishing time on other routes in the library — so you can pick a route that fits the effort and pace you're after, before you set off.
